4. Presentation and Discussion of Pelham Road Corridor Study
- Nanette Bourne, Urban Planner / Sam Schwartz Consulting – Nanette presented slide deck for study. See last Board meeting for notes and presentation slide deck. Will recommend that prior traffic study be validated with current traffic data. Any plan to update traffic study? Kevin agreed further analysis was needed, but didn’t commit to any time frame for implementing it. There will be increased pedestrian safety with new intersection signaling and crosswalks. Entrance to Hudson Park should be addressed both aesthetically and with pedestrian safety in mind. Concern also expressed concern about traffic issues at Trinity during drop off and pick up. Concern expressed about future construction in the neighborhood. Construction in corridor will not mirror the size and complexity of downtown development. Bike path opinions in corridor vary. There currently isn’t adequate width for a bike lane at this time. Concern raised about corner improvements. Kevin will follow up with the traffic engineer. No current plans for A&P site. Kevin shared his email for anyone who wants additional follow up. No enforcing of double parking in downtown. Kevin will reach out to appropriate staff. Residence permit parking is a long process that requires state approval. Sutton Manor process has been ongoing for two years. How does city implement elements of the study? Examples include some traffic improvements, intersection improvements, zoning changes and others will go through funding and applying for grants. Concern the corridor improvements are addressed holistically and comprehensively, and not segmented. RPNA wants to be involved and kept in the loop as plan is implemented.
